Forest Youth Theatre Company Reunion and Commemorative Book Launch

It was the early 80’s and in the middle of the Northern Beaches between the football fields and squash courts, Council built a brand-new theatre complex. Glen Street Theatre came to life inspiring Bob and Penny Philpott to set up Forest Youth Theatre Company.

For over 20 years generations of young people from across the Beaches joined in the magic of theatre making. No-one was turned away and everyone found a place whether they could sing, were backstage, on lights, sound props or make-up, and with an army of support from parents the Forest Youth Theatre Company became one big family.

The list of people who began with Forest Youth Theatre Company and went on to professional careers nationally and internationally is staggering and includes Justin Smith, Jessica O'Donoghue, Sharon Millerchip, Stephen Mahy, Penny Tration (Daniel Floyd), Lachlan Philpott, Ditch Davey, Josh Quong Tart, and more.

For decades, The Forest Youth Theatre Company gave young people in our community a sense of being included. Noone was turned away and everyone got a part.

Now we welcome a new generation of young people to the stage in this showcase of local talent.
