Since then he has won various Eisteddfod Open Age championships and was a recipient of a full music scholarship at Newington College, a prestigious Sydney private school. At the age of 14, Hugh was awarded the AMEB Licentiate Diploma with Distinction. The Licentiate in Music, Australia (LMusA) is a highest diploma awarded by examination to outstanding candidates in the fields of musical performance by the Australian Music Examination Board. The AMEB Licentiate Diploma has a national success rate of around 10% of candidates. Less than 1% of students receive a Distinction. To obtain this qualification at only 14 years of age was truly outstanding.  In 2021 Hugh received a prestigious “People’s Choice Award” at the National Kendall Violin Competition; Australia's premier instrumental competition.  Hugh regularly plays violin recitals as a profession soloist, including performing Ysaye's “Obsession" and “Zigeunerweisen" for G'Day Hollywood Productions. David Cazalet

David Cazalet was born in Long Island New York. He is the 4th son of his Australian mother Beryl and his American father George.

George met Beryl during World War 2 while on R&R in Sydney and married her soon after meeting.  Thankfully George survived Pearl Harbour and the rest of the War and went on to father his five sons!

The family immigrated to Australia in the 1960’s settling in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. The family had a brand new Astor 3 in 1 TV / Radio and Record player that in 1969 was the best TV in the street. George would play Mario Lanza and Mitch Miller records all day on a Sunday, filling the house with beautiful music, however occasionally Beryl would be allowed to play her Elvis records, she had two, “Elvis for Everyone” and “Californian Holiday” (Spinout.)

On hearing Elvis’ voice, young David still in “short pants” would be spellbound by the magical feeling that came out of the speakers. From that moment David would sing Elvis songs at family gatherings then later to his friends and teachers at school. David never ever felt alone, he always had a song to keep him company, and today nothing has changed.

After turning to professional entertainment, David’s career has been successful and very diverse.  Taking advantage of his duel-nationality he performed in Las Vegas during the 90’s at many corporate events.  He then went on to star for 4 years straight, performing in big budget production shows in Japan.  His journey through Elvis’ music has been a rewarding one indeed.  The biggest reward came when he married his most beautiful showgirl Suzie and started a family.

David Cazalet, today, celebrates Elvis’ music with the same sincerity and love he always has, the voice richer and fuller than ever, thanks to a healthy harmonious lifestyle, enriched by the family, friends and fans that love to hear him sing!

As David’s career marches on through the 21st century you can be sure it’s to the beat of GI Blues and that every song David sings will do justice to the “Man from Tennessee” the King of Rock and Roll and the 20th Century – Elvis Presley.

As a critic once wrote “The King lives in Cazalet!”
